Title: Construction Engineer – Construction, Engineering & Inspection (CEI)

Summary: We currently have an opening on the Arlington CEI team as a Graduate Engineer. This candidate will perform general civil engineering work needed to oversee the day-to-day operations of a highway construction project. The candidate will apply prescribed methods to complete limited and specific portions of the broader assignment of an experienced engineer.

General Responsibilities:

  • Support Construction Engineers and inspection staff on a large transportation construction project.
  • Perform inspection tasks in the field under the supervision of Engineers and Lead Inspection staff in support of bridge, retaining wall and roadway construction.
  • Support CEI team in efforts to identify, document and address deficiencies in the work of the Contractor and Sub-Contractors.
  • Manage project related RFIs, Submittals, Change Orders, and General Correspondence.
  • Perform constructability reviews and provide recommendations to Engineer of Record.
  • Attend construction meetings and provide guidance to project stakeholders.
  • Coordinate and communicate with oversight team on project issues and progress.
  • Coordinate material testing and sampling of construction materials to ensure compliance with Materials Testing and Sampling Schedule.
  • Complete training on Environmental Compliance (SWPPP) and Management of Traffic (MOT).
  • 75/25 balance in Office to Field duties.

Required Education:

  • Bachelor of Science, Civil Engineering is required
  • Certified Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or ability to obtain in 6 months

Required Experience:

  • 0-4 years of post-graduate experience or Master’s Degree and 0-4 years of post-master's experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Proficiency in Bluebeam/Adobe
  • Experience with SiteManager preferred but not required.
  • Strong communication skills
