Position:
Interactors are the heart and spirit of Discovery Cube. They are responsible for interacting and engaging with a wide range of people in a very dynamic and high energy environment. Interactors will assist guests in interacting with specific exhibits and are trained on the science behind each exhibit. Interactors may also be required to perform basic science presentations to guests in the structure of tabletop facilitations or demonstrations. Interactors are required to provide friendly customer service to every guest. The Interactor will report to the Shift Lead on duty and will serve as a role model on how to use exhibits to all staff.
Responsibilities:
Interactors are responsible for providing friendly and professional interaction to both guests and staff. They are required to offer helpful and knowledgeable information about Discovery Cube and it’s available offerings.
Additional responsibilities include:
· Proactively engage guests while on the floor and interacting with exhibits
· Ensure all guests are having a fun and safe experience
· Understand and use the Galaxy program as needed
· Operate and use equipment as outlined in the Interactor Manual
· Lead science-based demonstrations for multiple age levels
· Assist with stage shows, field trips, birthday parties and other programs as needed
Qualifications:
· High School Diploma required; College degree preferred, with a focus on Science or Education
· Minimum 1 year experience in a fast-paced Customer Service environment preferred
· Public speaking or performance experience
· Prior experience working with children
· Excellent written and verbal skills required
· Must have a basic understanding of scientific concepts and must be willing to learn and teach scientific concepts
· Must have the ability to stand for extended periods of time without reasonable accommodation
· Friendly demeanor and ability to interact with adults and children of all ages
· Must be a proactive, self-starter and require little supervision
· Basic computer knowledge required (email, internet browsing)
· Demonstrated ability to use all Microsoft Office products
· Ability to work with a diverse group of people
· Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 25 lbs. for short periods of time
· Must be able to safely bend to turn exhibits on or off
· Prior cash handling experience.
· Knowledge of a second language a plus but not required
