Job Description
At Second Harvest Heartland (SHH), we work to end hunger together. As one of the largest, most efficient, and most innovative hunger-relief organizations in the nation, we leverage our unique position in the emergency food chain to make an impact. In close partnership with a network of nearly 300 food shelves and nearly 1,000 partner programs, we support those in our region facing hunger today. More than a food bank, we’re a leading partner in the policies and programs that work to end hunger. Our core program is to source and distribute millions of pounds of donated and low-cost purchased food to our agency partners who provide direct service to ensure nutrition security in their communities through onsite meals or distributing free groceries. The Rising Partner Program will increase the capacity of the segment of our agency partner network that is community-based and BIPOC-led in order to better serve communities that are being missed or facing greater food insecurity. The VISTA will also improve the ability of the food bank to engage with this segment of our partner network and their communities to help us better identify the gaps in service and decrease the racial hunger divide.
